The short answer

Yes — pear is a safe, juicy treat for budgies, as long as you remove the seeds.

Why

Pear is soft, sweet and hydrating, and most budgies enjoy it. Like apple, pear seeds contain compounds that release cyanide, so the pips must always be removed.

How to feed it

Wash it, cut a thin slice, and take out the core and every seed. The skin is fine to leave on.

How much & how often

A small piece 2–3 times a week; it's sugary, so keep it a treat.

⚕️ Please note: This is general information for budgie owners, not veterinary advice. When in doubt, leave a food out and ask a qualified avian vet. If your budgie has eaten something toxic, contact an avian vet immediately.
